Good was food but was so disappointed becauce salmon and Tuna Sashimi is unavailable. The place is a bit run down and yes i also experienced the mosquitoes. I hope they provide insect repellent.

Craving Japanese food, but I had limited options for halal food. My friend brought me her lunch, and I ordered the lunch set menu, “the mixed seafood tempura.” I loved it so much. The taste was excellent! The ingredients were fresh. The restaurant was also convenient. It has more space, but make sure to reserve or arrive early at 11:00 AM, as lunchtime is usually very busy. Will come back again!

A gem of refined Japanese dining in the Philippines, this restaurant embodies understated elegance. Every visit begins with their signature soft, chilled silken tofu—so delicate it nearly melts at the touch. The onigiri, quietly brilliant in flavor and texture, pairs beautifully with their refreshing watermelon shake. My relatives always delight in the Bento, a generous feast under ₱1500, capturing true restaurant-style value. The ice cream finale is pure silk—smooth, creamy perfection. With a Japanese chef at the helm, it’s no wonder Nihon-jin call this their go-to haven.

We came here as a big group for dinner on a weekday, we made a reservation beforehand, so we were seated right away. Actually we came for the uni handball, but sadly it was not available on that day. We had other dishes instead. The sashimi and sushi was so good! The best was the salmon salad. It's must try! We also tried their steak. However, I think there are better steak choices somewhere else. Only thing to consider is that parking may be hard to find if it's on a rush hour.

Heard about this great jap restaurant since 2018 but only managed to come today. Why did I not come earlier? The staff are efficient and friendly. Patiently gave me some recommendations and the dishes came fast. The nigritoro maki is good. Fish fresh. The US beef steak sliced is tender and juicy. I like it that it is Only lightly marinated with salt and Peper. The tempura prawns is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pork soup is good too Best jap so far in Manila.. Even better than some 5 star hotel restaurant. Really!!

The reviews from previous patrons paint a vivid picture of the dining experience. Diners like Miriam A. have expressed their love for the restaurant, despite noting that some menu prices may initially surprise you. However, it is clear that the quality of food justifies the expense. Meanwhile, Mary Ann U. appreciates Tanabe’s balance of delicious and reasonably priced dishes, highlighting the efficient service that keeps her returning whenever her mother visits town.

Ruthie W. recounted a memorable visit with her family, where an array of dishes delighted the taste buds. From the aji tataki to the flavorful Gindara kaku bento, the quality and variety are commendable. The complimentary tofu, accompanied by a superb sauce, was a particularly enticing appetizer. However, she did caution that the fish in her parents' bento box could have been improved, though the overall dining experience remained highly recommended.

Bruce K. shared a mixed review, praising the respectful service and quality of certain dishes while mentioning that the seafood could use a flavor boost. He drew attention to the fact that the establishment attracts a significant number of Japanese customers – a noteworthy testament to authenticity. Indeed, the presence of diners who appreciate authentic cuisine suggests a special quality to the dining experience that can’t be overlooked.

However, the true highlight, as emphasized by Nikko J., is the food itself. Describing it as “TO DIE FOR,” he highlighted indulgent offerings such as ikura (salmon roe) and uni (sea urchin), which deliver bold flavors and unforgettable textures. With recommendations coming from both locals and Japanese embassy staff, it’s evident that Tanabe has established a reputation that speaks for itself.

In summary, Tanabe Japanese Restaurant is a dining destination that promises a genuine taste of Japanese culture with every dish. While some prices may raise an eyebrow, the exquisite flavors and thoughtful service assure that your visit will be a memorable one. Prepare your palate for a delightful journey through authentic Japanese cuisine that awaits you at Tanabe.
